Lightning Arrestor Program

Thunderstorms consisting of lightning strikes are normal occurrences in Missouri. In fact, they occur between 40 and 50 days per year.

Some people discover they are more vulnerable to lightning strikes simply because of their location. In addition, grounding plays a critical role in protection against these strikes.

Overhead Service

Citizens Electric will install a VariStar Storm Trapper High Energy secondary lightning arrestor at a member's residence for $50. The installation will occur at the weather head.

Underground Service

Citizens Electric will supply, but not install, the lightning arrestor for $35.00. It should be fastened inside the panel box with a qualified electrician doing the installation work.

Although Citizens Electric cannot imply any warranties, we highly recommend these devices and have seen them work in a number of applications.
