Outage Update 9 pm 5/10

Citizens Electric line personnel and outside resources restored more than 1,000 services today, making the total of remaining outages less than 3,800. This is down from approximately 10,000 outages that occurred last Friday as a result of the severe storms that swept through the area.

Most of the destruction occurred within Perry and Cape Counties. While 99 percent of all services have been restored in Ste. Genevieve County, some members in the Perryville and Altenburg Districts may not have power until mid-week.

With the assistance of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC), 57 linemen from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas and Kentucky are helping with restoration efforts. Along with line personnel, 38 contracted right-of-way workers are clearing away fallen trees and debris from electric lines. In total, more than 165 workers are dedicating their efforts to power restoration during 16-hour shifts.

Throughout Citizens' service area, it's projected that 175 poles were damaged or broken during the storm. Of that total, 85 poles are left to be replaced in the Perryville and Altenburg Districts.

Please stay away from all power lines and assume they are energized, even if they are broken or on the ground. If there are electric lines down on your property, stay away and call 1-800-286-2251.

Citizens Electric appreciates your patience during this time. CEC personnel are working hard to complete restoration efforts as quickly and safely as possible. We will keep you posted as further information becomes available.
