News5/12/2009 Morning Update May 12Citizens Electric personnel and out-of-town linemen and right-of-way crews are making good progress in restoring electric service to members who lost power last Friday after severe storms blasted through the area. With the help of 95 trained professionals from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas and Kentucky, the latest total of remaining power outages in Citizens' territory is 1,924, down from the peak of around 10,000. According to CEC management, they expect power will be restored to the following areas by the end of today: Parker Lake, Lake Kahtanda, Yount, Friedheim and Cedar Fork. In areas that include and are south of Altenburg, Frohna, Uniontown and Apple Creek, CEC's goal is to restore service to everyone except individual outages plus short single-phase feeders (10 or less customers per feeder) by the end of today. The remaining individual and short feeder outages will be addressed as soon as possible. With the threat of rain starting tonight and severe weather forecasted tomorrow night, CEC personnel are concerned that more rain and storms could hamper efforts to complete outage restoration efforts before the end of the week. Citizens Electric appreciates your patience during this time. Please stay away from all power lines and assume they are energized, even if they are broken or on the ground. If there are electric lines down on your property, call 1-800-286-2251.
