Citizens Electric personnel, contracted tree crews and out-of-town linemen worked until late last night restoring electric service. As of this morning, 680 members remain without power following the severe storms that hit southeastern Missouri last Friday. There are currently 108 outside professionals from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas and Kentucky assisting CEC in the restoration efforts.

According to CEC management, crews are targeting the Yount and Friedheim areas and hope to complete work there today. The goal is to get down to single outages by the end of the day, but there are a lot of those remaining. If the weather cooperates, the plan is to complete restoration to all members who are able to receive power by Thursday night.

Showers and thunderstorms are forecasted for this area starting today and running through Saturday. Therefore, weather may hamper restoration and clean-up efforts.

Citizens Electric appreciates our members' patience during this time. In addition, CEC wants to thank local businesses that have worked extra hours to provide services to Operations crews who are working 16-hour days.

Please stay away from all power lines and assume they are energized, even if they are broken or on the ground. If there are electric lines down on your property, call 1-800-286-2251.
