Despite additional outages throughout Citizens' service territory Wednesday and early this morning, line crews continue to make good progress in restoring electric service to members who have been without power since last Friday's storm. As of now, 427 Citizens' members remain without electricity.

Restoration efforts have been particularly difficult due to wet, muddy conditions and a jumbled maze of toppled trees and storm debris. CEC management estimates more than 280 poles were damaged or broken from the storm.

Since last weekend, trained professionals from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas and Kentucky have been assisting Citizens' crews with equipment and manpower.

In order to insure that CEC is aware of your outage, members are urged to call if they still don't have electric service.

Showers and thunderstorms forecast through Saturday may slow down progress in completing restoral and clean-up efforts. Total restoration efforts could extend into the weekend.

Citizens Electric appreciates our members' patience during this time. In addition, CEC wants to thank local businesses that have worked extra hours to provide services to Operations crews who are working 16-hour days.

Please remember to stay away from all downed power lines and call CEC at 1-800-286-2251.
