Outage in Ste Genevieve County

All of the City of Ste. Genevieve and the surrounding area lost power last night when an insulation failure started a pole fire on a Citizens Electric 69 kV dual circuit feeder that supplies electricity to 80 percent of Ste. Genevieve County. The fire caused severe damage to the pole which ultimately resulted in the opening of both 69 kV breakers feeding the dual circuit. As a result, the entire pole structure had to be changed in order to completely restore power.

At 6:56 p.m., nearly 3,900 members in Bloomsdale, Rocky Ridge, Lake Forest and surrounding areas lost power. Service was restored to those areas at approximately 9:20 p.m. At 7:07 p.m., approximately 4,300 members in the City of Ste. Genevieve, including Mississippi Lime and Chemical Lime lost power. Their power was restored at approximately 11:00 p.m.
