Scholarships

Winner of the 2009 At-large Scholarship is Travis Roth. Travis is a Jackson High School graduate, his parents are Terry and Linda Roth. Travis plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla and major in Civil Engineering.

Every year Citizens Electric Corporation offers a total of $3,500 in scholarships to students living within the utility’s service territory.

A $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from each of the following high schools: Oak Ridge, Saxony Lutheran, Perryville, St. Vincent, Ste. Genevieve and Valle Catholic. The schools’ guidance counselors are responsible for administrating the applications and selecting the winners.

In addition, Citizens Electric offers one-$500 at-large scholarship. Students wishing to apply for the at-large scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • The student lives within the CEC service territory, does not attend one of the schools listed above.
  • A parent or legal guardian must be a current CEC member.
  • Have a 2.5 or better grade point average.
  • Provide a copy of their high school transcript.
  • Complete an application and return it to CEC.
  • Include letter of recommendation
  • Include answer to essay question
  • Applications are accepted February, March with a deadline in April for the year they are given.
